Pictured is John Franklin Stephens and his wife Jane Frogge. John was the oldest son of Burton Stephens and Elizabeth Beaty (sister of Tinker Dave). Johns's first five children were born in Gelnobey.

He left Fentress County around 1875, after killing his brother-in-law in self defense, although no chares were placed aganist him. He went to an area near Fort Smith, Arkansas where five more children were born. John died in 1914 and Jane in 1905.

Names of the children in order of birth are: Timothy Asberry, George Wilson, Mary Elizabeth, Fanny Abigill, Balaam B., Lydia Ann, Annie, William Burton, Lee Robert and Renzo who died in March of 1971 in Modesto, California.

John has a g-grandson, Boyd Stephens, who is a doctor in San Francisco and a g-grandson who is a teacher in Oklahoma City.
