Standmore H. Allen |
|
William Newton Wright was best friends and a neighbor of Standmore H.
Allen. They made a pact that if one of them was killed in the Civil War,
the other would bring the body back to be buried in the family cemetery.
Three days after the war was over, they were on their way home and were
ambushed. Standmore was killed. William Newton Wright stole a horse and
wagon and brought Standmore's body home.
