Martha Priscilla Nicholson

From Barbara Martin [barmar@@lamarelectric.com], I am a descendant of John J. Nicholson. My records show Martha P. b. 04 March 1824 in AL and died 15 Mar 1862 in Fannin CO., TX. She is buried in Allens Chapel Cemetery next to her husband Wilson Bruce Allen who was b. 01 August 1816 and d. 03 June 1900. John J. Nicholson was not in AR ,according to my records, until about 1828, do you know if John was in AR earlier than 1828? Where did you find the birth of Martha P. in Ft. Smith, AR? If she were born in AR, that might solve a mystery for me. Martha Nicholson Allen, wife of Wilson Bruce Allen, is in John J.'s will, however, she is not referred to as my daughter and neither is Braxton Nicholson referred to as my son. All of his other children are referred to as my son or my daughter and a James is refered to as my nephew. I have always thought this strange, but maybe John was just a little "miffed" about something at the time of the writing of his Will in 1839. Martha and Braxton received their inheritance equally with the others.
